ReplyDeletethe ginger tom looked out at the camp from mossrock and spotted his mate, WinterStorm, also DuskClan's deputy. Her long, pale gray fur ruffled. He called out to her and she turned with happiness in her icy blue eyes.

ReplyDeletei pranced next to WinterStorm and almost immediatly we were ladened with prey, then i waited for her to praise me, but the she-cat seemed to be thinking, hard. Finally i couldnt stand it and asked "Jeesh WinterStorm, wht is wrong?" she looked up rather startled and i could feel her pelt get hot as she mumbled "Oh, is it tht noticeable?" i nodded

ReplyDeletei tried to shake the lingering embarrassment from my heavy coat, and mumbled again "Im worried about FireStar." she rolled her eyes "He can take care of himself, just as u can. Why r u worried bout him though?" i blinked, it felt lik the smothering forest had been brought off me "hes been acting rather ill lately." i explained and she glanced away thoughtfully a minute "Now tht u mention it..." i nodded smugly, but a worry worm had worked its way into my fur, so i wasnt the only one thtd noticed...

ReplyDeletei knew it was wrong to eavesdrop, but i couldnt help it, he could hear WinterStorm and LittlePaw "Wht do u think i should do?" "i, we, well we could force him 2..?" "no, tht will not do, y dont 'I' just ask?" "cause its not as fun tht way." LittlePaw whined. He shook his head uneasily, wht had they been tlkin about, well he could ask LittlePaw...no, shed shred him, or WinterStorm...she mite...oh this was soooooooooo frustrating!!!

ReplyDelete"Wereve u been?" i growled as SilverPaw appeared, he gulped nervously and set his prey in front of him "Hunting ThunderStorm, lik u told me 2, y did i not get enough?" i looked at his bundle critically, but no, there was no reason to fuss "No, it be fine, u didnt eat on the way, did u?" he shook his head, i nodded and ordered him to follow me with his prey.

ReplyDeletei looked up and saw a puzzled GingerPelt with WinterStorm and LittlePaw "WinterStorm has something to tell us." i nodded just as quizzicle "Okay, i know FireStar is your brother and tht ur the closest ones of the clan to him, other than me. Have u noticed if hes been a bit ill lately? I dont know, but both me and LittlePaw have noticed" i thought a moment and then replied "Well he hasnt been goin on patrols lately, and hedoesnt check on the queens as much, so yeh i guess so, but i thought it was just the pressure of being leader." she nodded "it could very well be, but im still nervous about it, do u think i should tell NightWhisperer?" "Tell me wht?" we all jumped, behind me the black medicine cat was lookin at us with his gold eyes "WinterStorm, spill." and so she did

ReplyDeletei went into my den, awfully tired, but was shocked to see NightWhisperer, waiting quietly. "Hi FireStar." i nodded and settled down "y do i have the pleasur of seeing u today dear friend?" NightWhisperer smiled kindly "Ur deputy is worried about u. She and ur siblings said u did not seem well, wht is bothering u old friend?" i shuddered, if only he knew "it is nothing NightWhisperer, she is and always will be worried about me, shes a she-cat." "ah, but she is also the deputy and ur mate, plz FireStar, tell me wht is hurting u so much u will not eat..?", but i just shook my head "it is nothing." he could tell i was lying, but he didnt press it further and left silently.

ReplyDeletewht could be bothering FireStar? wht, wht, wht?! i shook my head in frustration, then looked up as Daisy and one of her troublesom kits, GoldKit were waiting for me. The golden ske-kit was one of my regular patients and today was no different. She'd gotten a thorn in her paw, she winced, but didnt cry out. "NightWhisperer, do u lik being a medicine-cat?" i grinned "i luv it, y do u ask?" she was silent for a moment, but then replied determinedly "i was thinking about becoming a medicine-cat, lik u, i could learn a whole lot from u!" i grinned even more "oh goldkit, thtd be wanderful, but u have to become an apprentice first, but as soon as u do ill beg FireStar!" mite as well beg him now, sigh, wht r u hiding FireStar?..

ReplyDeleteI watched RiverPelt stalk a grasshopper and copied her, we were doing the mouse stalk, she grinned "Great! Keep practicing and you'll soon be better than me!" I shook my head "Sure, whateva u say." She led me back to the camp, and suddenly halted, her ears quivered and I stood, tense at her side, sniffing in and out while glancing around continuesly, then she shuddered "What do u smell?" I narrowed my eyes and sniffed again, mouth slightly open to catch the best scents, then I smelled it, bitter and foreboding I hissed "MoonClan?!" RiverPelt smiled a little "Well done, why we can smell them this accurately is a mystery to me, maybe we should report it?" I shrugged "FireStar's got a lot on his plate." she nodded "Yes, I suppose so, never mind, it might not even be anything." We began to trot on to camp, but something had squirmed into my gut making it scream out that we needed to investigate, I ignored it...

ReplyDeletei sniffed the leaf mold, agitated that the mouse had escaped, then stiffened, i ducked low as two toms appeared, both smelling of MoonClan, I recognized the slender black as NightWisp, he was with a younger warrior that had a look of authority about him, but Id never seen him, a second, underlying scent told her he was fairly new as a MoonClan member, she waited until theyd trotted on before stepping out of her hiding then with a heavy heart she sprinted back to amp as dusk fell over her...

ReplyDeletei was sitting in my den trying to connect with the stars and with a sigh of relief a black cat appeared, she had white paws and a white nose with a streak on her forehead, she sat and smiled "I cannot stay lon son." He nodded "I understand, but...do u kno wht is troubling our leader?" she flinched "No, I have not been able to find out, but it's affecting him." i nodded sadly "he wont tlk to me." she nuzzled me "ur still his best friend, that will never change." i nodded again and bade her goodbye again...

ReplyDeleteI came in with two mice and sat with NightWhisperer he was silent and i could tell he was thinking, then with a bit of hesitation he replied quietly "i talked to BlackWhisker last night." i nodded, a pang of resentment and jealously coursing through me, he sighed "shes as skeptical as we are as to what is wrong with FireStar." i shruuged "lets just hope he snaps out of it soon." my brother nodded and went to his precious herbs.
